Marti has been practicing judo since she was six years old. Along with her elder brothers, she started participating in the sport. after taking first place in her debut match just a few months later, she set her goals on becoming an Olympic champion.


After twenty years and countless national and international victories, she has established a reputation in the sport and is currently ranked as the top American player within her bracket. Marti also achieved another lifelong goal in 2012 when she won a bronze medal in the Olympic Games in London.


Marti attended San Jose State University where she played soccer and served as team captain for three years before earning a BS in advertising and qualifying for the 2012 Olympics. While earning a Masters in Mass Communications at San Jose State, Marti had one of her greatest years ever in 2013, winning a gold medal at the Miami Grand Prix, a silver medal at the World Championships, and a silver medal at the famous Tokyo Grand Slam.
